This page will provide information on the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act in Minnesota.

Update 4/28/17 – The Minnesota Department of Education has provided a description of the preliminary decisions that will be reflected in the Every Student Succeeds Act State Plan. ESSA Preliminary Decisions

The Minnesota Department of Education has also provided a description of what to expect with the implementation of ESSA and the World’s Best Workforce Accountability in the 2017-18 school year. ESSA/WBWF Transition Year 2017-18

The State Plan will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education in September of 2017.
A draft of the State Plan may be submitted to the Minnesota Legislature in May for discussion in committee.
MDE also plans to have a public comment period on the State Plan Draft.

Update 4/5/17 –  The Minnesota PTA provided information to the MDE Accountability Advisory Committee for the Every Student Succeeds Act on the importance of Parent/Family Engagement.

MN PTA continues to work with the Minnesota Department of Education to include measures of parent/family engagement in the methods used to help Minnesota schools best serve our students and communities.

Update  4/2016 –  The Minnesota Department of Education has created a webpage on the Every Student Succeeds Act that contains detailed information on the State Plan development process and stakeholder engagement efforts. MDE ESSA Website
