Open Positions

The Minnesota PTA is currently seeking people to fill a variety of positions and roles.  These include officers, executive board positions, committee chair positions, or advisor roles.  Officers are elected by the general membership at the annual convention on odd numbered years. (application deadline has passed for 2021-2023 officer positions) Executive board, committee chairs, and advisors are appointed by the current President and approved by the sitting board.  All positions are two year terms (or the remainder of an unexpired term) – officer positions are capped at two terms, other positions have no cap. People whom apply for these positions will be contacted by Nomination Committee members to further discuss the interview process.

Vice-President

The vice-president assists the current president and board on a variety of items.  As an officer of the organization, they assure the operations and  programs are executed with respect to the state and national bylaws and standing rules. They may represent the organization to outside groups, support local unit leadership with expertise on best PTA practices, participate in national PTA calls to be the conduit of information from the national to state organization. They should be familiar with state and national PTA programming, resources and opportunities. They may present training at state convention and attend the National PTA Convention and Legislative Convention on behalf of MN. They also assist with overseeing the staff of MN PTA.



Executive Board (appointed)

Education Commissioner

The education commissioner is part of the executive board of the MN PTA and is responsible for monitoring parent/family engagement efforts and providing local unit support in engagement efforts. The position may present training on the topic. Apply by clicking HERE!


Outreach Commissioner

The outreach commissioner is part of the executive board of the MN PTA and is responsible for leadership development and training, membership growth, local unit support and rewards. They work closely with the president on providing specific resources to local unit officers and represents the organization with other organizations. Apply by clicking HERE!



Committee Chair Positions (appointed)

Advocacy – Federal Legislation Chair

To guide and implement the efforts of the Minnesota PTA in educating PTA members, community members and elected officials about federal issues of concern and developing and advocating for the legislative and policy priorities and goals of the Minnesota PTSA and National PTA at the federal level. Advocacy – State Legislation Chair

To guide and implement the efforts of the Minnesota PTA in educating PTA members, community members and elected officials about state issues of concern and developing and advocating for the legislative and policy priorities and goals of the Minnesota PTSA and National PTA at the state level. Communication Chair

This chair works closely with the board members and office staff to schedule posting information on website, social media, and via email, including providing National PTA information. Supports local units with communications strategy as requested. Provides training as needed. Apply by clicking HERE!


Diversity/Inclusion Chair

The Diversity/Inclusion Chair is responsible for outreach to formal or informal groups that represent diverse populations of parents or students.  Diversity includes culture, ethnicity, race, gender, disability, rural populations and other groups underrepresented in PTA units. Reflections

The Reflections Chair is responsible for conducting the annual cultural arts competition in accordance with requirements established by National PTA. Apply by clicking HERE!



Board Advisors (appointed – non voting)

Parliamentarian

A parliamentarian assists the Minnesota PTA Board of Directors in maintaining and amending bylaws, conducting business using Roberts Rules of Order, and presiding over elections of officers. Apply by clicking HERE!
