Open Positions

MN PTA is currently seeking people to fill a variety positions. Positions include Board positions & Committee member positions. These positions are available for anyone to apply. People whom apply for these positions will be contacted by Nomination Committee members to further discuss the interview process. 

Board Positions

President-Elect (Executive Board) 

The president-elect would be approved by the current board of directors with the intention to be placed on the slate of candidates as president for the 2019-2021 term. The president-elect assists the current president and board on a variety of items.  As an officer of the organization, they assure the operations and programs are executed with respect to the state and national bylaws and standing rules. They may represent the organization to outside groups, support local unit leadership with expertise on best PTA practices, participate in national PTA calls to be the conduit of information from the national to state organization. They should be familiar with state and national PTA programming, resources and opportunities. They may present training at state convention and attend the National PTA Convention and Legislative Convention on behalf of MN. They also assist with overseeing the staff of MN PTA.

The president-elect candidate would be approved by the current board of directors with the intention to be placed on the slate of candidates as president for the 2019-2021 term.


Treasurer (Executive Board)

The treasurer would be approved by the current board of directors with the possibility of being placed on the slate of candidates for the 2019-2021 term. This position is responsible for creating and monitoring the budget or MN PTA, assuring that expenditures are accurately designated to the correct line item, supervises the collection, deposit and disbursement of all monies of the organization. The treasurer works closely with office staff on all finances and bank statement reconciliation and acts as one signer on checks. The treasurer is or becomes familiar with PTA EZ as used by the MN PTA office.  They also support local unit treasurers by answering questions and present training at state convention and other opportunities.

The treasurer candidate would be approved by the current board of directors with the possibility of being placed on the slate of candidates for the 2019-2021 term.

Outreach Commissioner

The outreach commissioner is part of the executive board of the MN PTA and is responsible for leadership development and training, membership growth, local unit support and rewards. They work closely with the president on providing specific resources to local unit officers and represents the organization with other organizations. 

The Outreach Commissioner candidate would be approved by the current board of directors with the possibility of being placed on the slate of candidates for the 2019-2021 term.

Bylaws Chair

The bylaws chair supports the state and local units with bylaws and standing rules questions, in addition to recommending changes to current state and local unit universal bylaws. The chair presents training on these topics as needed and is familiar with Robert’s Rules of Order and supports the state and local units on its use.

Convention Chair

The convention chair coordinates the planning and budgeting of the state convention.  They work with a committee of board members and others to provide an opportunity for training, networking and fun for PTA leaders and members across the state.

Health and Safety Chair

This chair supports state and local unit efforts in these areas by promoting initiatives and programs that impact students’ well-being.  They participate on national health and safety calls, may present training and represent the organization with outside groups.

Membership Chair

The membership chair supports local units in membership retention and growth by providing resources. The chair is responsible for evaluating state PTA membership numbers and suggests initiatives to increase membership.  They also participate in national PTA membership calls and present training as requested.

Resource Development Chair

This chair is responsible for developing relationships with corporate sponsors, both in state and nationally.  They work with the National PTA resource development staff to identify opportunities for growth. The chair may assist with securing sponsorships for the state convention and grant writing.
